Meet my new 2 wheeled friend.
2005 KLR 650 A19. 1355 kilometers on the clock and clean as a whistle. Delivered this past Monday. It was wheeled off the dealers truck (my old job when I 1st moved to Ottawa) and an attempt was made to start it..
Nothing... Hmmm Not an auspicious start to my 2nd KLR 650. We pulled the battery and found a broken fuse. It was replaced in record time. Again a push on the starter revealed no secrets of electrical magic. It was as dead as Edgar Allen Poe's last date. Hmmm What to do. Ok I knew what to do and that was to go get some of the stuff that resides in the shop (ok garage, but shop sounds better). Lurking in the back was a 5 yr old Mastercraft battery that used to belong in a Triumph motorbike and was relegated to Mitsubishi generator duty (hey it still works) No need to fill a land fill yeah? Booster cables hooked up and Bam, the thumper comes to life. We ran it for around 15 minutes then shut 'er down. Guess what. No juice. Go figure. The battery is dated 2004. So it's an original part. Time to move on. I contacted the dealer and am awaiting a new battery. Well lots of time before the ice disappears... Lots to do, lots to do.
