Here we go
Test drove the BRP Spyder. Nice.. wasnt too thrilled witth the sport version.. Liked the touring. The Sport (RS) was too obscene. I mean if you are going to have a sport version then go with a full on bike. A sport version of a three wheel reverse tryke is like a sport version of a mini van! I liked the touring. Slower and less tippy. Premium stereo and comfort in abundance. I can see the allure however I am not at that stage of my motorbiking life yet. I like my 2 wheel bikes to be- wel- on 2 wheels. 24K$ Cdn is, umm- unobtainium anyhow (for me). But there is a niche and it is quite interesting to see it being filled by BRP (Can-AM) Cant wait to see their 2 wheel offerings if rumours are true. Canadians back to the Motorcyling fray!
I also got out with the Raging Navanite to indulge in our passion of riding bikes on someone else's dime. This time it was Deeley HD. Looks like their ploy may work. The Navan boy really likes the "new" Dyna's and may peel the onion (and shed some tears) to get his ride on! I tried all the bikes that floated my boat.. Iron 883, Nightster 1200 and XR 1200. I have to give it to the 1200 motor.. That lump really got the heart racing. All one needs to make it right is to uncork the pipes and give 'er some shocks..
However... The bumps... I got rid of the Bonneville due to it's lack of suspension. Cottage roads arent the forgiving kind. These Sproties (XR the exception) had less than the Triumph! That wont do. Damn a KLR cost 5000$ new and swallowed those bumps (then again it was a KLR) These Sporties are double the bucks. Gimme some suspension man (channelling all of my inner Hopper)
All the peg positions were mids. I now see the reality that forward controls make the most sense. The mids had my knees up around my ears.. Not too fun.
So I learned a lot.
I need big bucks to get into HD (as the base stuff wont fly) and most imprortant tidbit-
My 32 year old bike rides like the proverbial cushion top matress.. It may be a slug on the speed charts, but damn it's comfortable.......
Or Im getting OLD!
