So the leaves are falling and time has come to "think" about putting the bike away. Well I think I will at some point but as the public works folks havent started throwing salt all over the roads it's safe to say that we still can spin some wheels!
This year was good in the mileage department. I rolled 3200 kilometers (so far) I figure a hundred or so to finish the year off. Then oil change, fuel stabil and a little space in the gargage to pass the winter.
Ive become accustomed to the idiosyncracies of this bike. It has character! You have to massage and cajole the machine to bring out the love.. Kind of like stoking the fires of an old locomotive and building a head of steam. Very rider intensive in that you have to be involved in everything. Clutch release from 1st to 2nd (squeek sounds from throw-out bearing), braking times, warmup times, fuel running low so flipping petcocks to allow flow, closing petcocks 1 kilometer away from home so as not to have fuel in carb bowls (in case of long downtime).
BTW I do have to say the brakes suck.
So 2010 was great. 1st time away on a bike since 1996. Hoping to make this a yearly occurence with some more Relic types! Who knows where the future will take us. I do know that I want the family to have some fun as well so a sidecar is a definate must!
