Afghanibike Lives!

Cm 250 with all the problems (as earlier stated).
Valves- Check!
Carb stripped and cleaned- Check!
Full tank of gas- Check!
Brand new battery- Check!
Fiddling around checking for spark. 15 minutes of cranking, sometimes catching, sometimes not. Cough, choke, wheeeeeez and a sputter or two. Finally the motor caught and I had to keep it alive a la throttle, feeding the dino juice ever so slightly. The jugs complained gasping plumes of smoke but I paid no never mind. I was determined to keep 'er alive. Operating temperature was at least 15 minutes away and this wee beastie hadn't ran that long in years.
After 5 minutes at the twist grip I decided to bump down the choke. It stayed lit! I adjusted the carb idle switch and still it stayed alive. Cool I thought. Hmm perhaps this little one wants to prove it's mettle.
Time for the test ride. I decided a fast "blip" up and down the street would be insufficient so on went the helmet and away I went, ever so cautious for the prying eyes of big brother as I had no official "numbers" on my rear fender.
Well half an hour and 10 kilometers of side streets and no complaints. Start- stop. On- off and always started. Noo smoke emitting from the exhaust on each try.. Very cool.
Brought 'er back into the drive and let it run for 5 minutes. Turned off the ignition and let 'er sit for 15 minutes. The big test was next. Start it up and check for smoke. .5 of a second and itcaught & settled into a nice idle. No smoke.
By the way, the valves were nice and quiet.
Ladies and Gents, I think we have something here. Now what can I go and get myself into with this bike?
Hmmmm
